On this trip you will have opportunity to meet several different minorities, which cannot be found in other areas of Sapa, such as Tay and Xa Pho. Even though they live close to each other, the Tay is one of the most advanced minority meanwhile the Xa Pho still maintain the tradition of being nomadic. You will also enjoy beautiful landscape in Ban Ho valley.




Day 1: Hanoi - Lao Cai

8pm transfer pick up you at your hotel in Hanoi to railway station for night train up to Sapa.

Day 2: Sapa - Ban Ho - Thanh Phu - Sin Chai (L,D)

The day commences with a drive to the trekking route. The trek starts by walking through the incredibly scenic   “Ban Ho” valley. Here you will have the opportunity to visit and explore the wooden houses, which traditionally belong to the Tay ethnic minority. You will then continue to walk to Thanh Phu village where you stop for lunch in a local house.

After lunchtime, you head to Sin Chai village of Red Dao minority where the night will be spent in bamboo huts. You will be attracted by the wonderful hospitable atmosphere of the Red Dao.
Approx: Grade 2 of 5/ 45 minutes driving/ 4 hours walking/ 1 hour lunch.

Day 3: Sin Chai - Nam Nhiu - My Son - Nam Toong - Sapa (B,L)

You start the trek today by walking downhill toward the My Son village, which belongs to the Xafo ethnic minority, one of the smallest group’s ethnic in Northern Vietnam. After one and a half hours walk to the Red Dao village of Nam Toong, lunch will be prepared and served. After lunch you will descend back to Ban Ho village, where you will be able to enjoy a swim at the nearby beautiful waterfall of La Vie. You will then ascend to Su Pan, where the car is waiting to take you back to Sapa then transfer down to Lao Cai Station for nigt train back to Hanoi.End of services.
Approx: Grade 2 of 5/ 1 hour driving/ 5 hours walking/ 1 hour lunch.

Note: The walk from Ban Ho to Thanh Phu and Sin Chai is mostly on the main dirt road.


What to expect:
You will trek through beautiful landscape. You will be able to meet the Black Hmong and Red Dao minorities living in the same village and hear about their unmixed culture.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Hanoi - Lao Cai

8pm transfer pick up you at your hotel in Hanoi to railway station for night train up to Sapa.


Day 2: Sapa - Mong Sen - Taphin (L,D)
 We will first travel by car downhill to Mong Sen, where you start trekking Sapa uphill through a mountainous area by following a dirt trail. En route, you will have many opportunities to enjoy spectacular view over rice paddy terraces and cornfields. You will take a stop for lunch at a nice spot.

After lunch, the trek will continue by going downhill toward Taphin village where you can meet Red Dao and Black Hmong minorities, two largest ethnic groups in Sapa. Your guide will tell you about daily life and tradition of these two people. Here you stay overnight in local house. You will be able to take a walk around the village while your guide prepares dinner
Approx: Grade 2 of 5/ 30 minutes driving/ 4 hours walking/ 1 hour lunch.

Day 3: Taphin - Matra - Sapa (B,L)

Once your breakfast finished, you will be heading toward Sapa. You will pass through several minority villages along the way. The walk through rice paddy terraces is very enjoyable. You then stop by Matra village of Black Hmong, where your lunch will be served atop a hill.
After lunch, you take a walk under the shadow of pine trees as well as a short walk from side to side of the town of Sapa  then transfer down to Lao Cai Station for nigt train back to Hanoi.End of services.

Today’s trek takes you through several villages where you will be able to meet Tay, Hmong and Xa Pho ethnic minorities. You will have time to photograph the beautiful rice paddy terraces and the surrounding mountain. On the way you will visit a local school. Your lunch will be prepared and served in a local house.

In the afternoon, you head back to Thanh Phu village of Tay minority. Here you will spend the night. You can take a walk to explore local daily life while your dinner will be served with Vietnamese dishes.

Day 4: Thanh Phu - My Son - Nam Toong - Sapa (B,L)

On the last day of the trek you will cross several suspension bridges and trek through lush rice paddy fields and stunning scenery. You have a unique opportunity to meet Xa Pho minority in My Son village, one of the smallest group ethnic living in Northern Viet Nam. They always maintain their unique costume and nomadic life. You trek uphill to Nam Toong village of Red Dao minority, where you have lunch in a local school.

In the afternoon, your trek will be firstly downhill to Ban Ho village where you will have time for a swim in the river. You will then climb toward Su Pan. The car will meet you there and return you to Sapa then transfer down to Lao Cai Station for nigt train back to Hanoi.End of services.

You will go south by car toward Muong Hoa valley. Your trek will begin from Tavan village of Giay minority.  The first day trek Sapa Vietnam will be mostly uphill. Whenever you stop for a rest, you will be able to enjoy valley view. Before noon, you stop again at a nice spot for lunch.

The trek will be softer in the afternoon. But the scenery becomes even more beautiful. You pass by Seomity village of Black Hmong minority before you arrive in a campsite, which locates nearby a river outside the village. While porters put up tents and cook dinner, you can take a walk to stretch the legs.
Approx: Grade 3 of 5/ 0,5 hour driving/ 4 hours walking/ 1 hour lunch

 Day 3: Seomity - Den Thang - Ta Trung Ho (B,L,D)

The trek today takes you through beautiful rice paddies and over old suspension bridges. You will trek on small trail sneaking through rainforest. You arrive in Den Thang village of Black Hmong by noon. Here you stop for lunch either nearby a river or in a local school according to the weather.

After lunch, the trek will becomes tough on tinny footpath going up and down, which requires some concentration. You will reach to Ta Trung Ho village of Red Dao minority where you spend the night in local house. Both the valley and the village have just received foreign visitors. The night will be even more interesting when you are in the wonderful hospitable atmosphere of the Red Dao.
Approx: Grade 3 of 5/ 6 hours walking/ 1 hour lunch

Day 4: Ta Trung Ho - Nam Toong - Ban Ho - Sapa (B,L)

You are now at the fringe of the rain forest by the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. Fansipan, the highest peak in Indochina with its 3143 m, is located in this mountain range. You will start the trek today by ascending to Nam Toong village of Red Dao minority. Here your lunch will be prepared in a local school.

In the afternoon, before descending to Ban Ho, you can make a stop by a waterfall to refresh. On the last hours you can enjoy the valley one final time while trekking up to Su Pan, where your car takes you on the journey back to Sapa Day 1: Hanoi - Lao Cai

Note: The trek is tough. The itinerary can be changed due to high water level in the river between Seomity and Ta Trung Ho. There will be no toilet facilities along the trek. Toilet tent will be provided.

Day 2: Sapa- Heavens Gate - Sin Chai (L,D)

You travel by car toward the Silver Waterfall where you will be able to take a short walk to the waterfall. You will then drive further to Heaven Gate, the highest peak of roads in Vietnam. From there you can see Fansipan, the highest peak of Indochina mountains as well as enjoy stunning views.
 We start descending nearby the waterfall. The trail takes you all the way downhill through bamboo forest, which belongs to Hoang Lien National Park. Your lunch will be served at a nice spot nearby a river.

After lunch, you continue the trek to Sin Chai village of Black Hmong minority, where Community Based Tourism in Sapa takes place. You will have opportunity to explore daily life of one of the largest group ethnic minorities in Sapa area. Here you spend the night in local house.

Day 3: Sin Chai - Cat Cat - Y Linh Ho (B,L,D)

After having breakfast, you start heading up the mountain. Once you get to the top, you will trek on a small trail with spectacular view and then gradually descend to Cat Cat village, where you will have lunch nearby a waterfall.

In the afternoon, you take a trail sneaking through mountain. You also will enjoy spectacular scenery while walking along a narrow river. Eventually you will arrive in Y Linh Ho village of Black Hmong minority, where you can take a rest in a nice spot nearby the beautiful river. You will spend the night in Y Linh Ho.

Day 4: Y Linh Ho - Lao Chai - Tavan (B,L,D)

Today’s trek will continue along Hoang Lien mountain range, which offers you many opportunities to enjoy view over huge rice paddy terraces in Muong Hoa valley, the largest one in the area.

After lunch at a nice spot, you descend into the bottom of the valley. You will pass through Lao Chai village of Black Hmongvillage of Giay minority by following a very popular trekking route.  You spend the night in a traditional house of Giay minority. You will be able to take a walk to enjoy the valley view as well as swim in the river nearby. minority and then Tavan
Approx: Grade 2 of 5/ 4 hours walking/ 1 hour lunch

Day 5: Tavan - Giang Ta Chai - Su Pan (B,L)

Today’s trek is short, but still the landscape is beautiful. Once you get energy for your last day trek after having breakfast, you leave for Giang Ta Chai village where you can take a rest nearby a waterfall for lunch. You will enjoy the walk in bamboo forests.

After passing trough the bamboo forest we will find a nice place to enjoy lunch. After lunch we continue towards Giang Ta Chai, a Red Dao ethnic minority village. After taking a rest nearby a waterfall to refresh, you start climbing uphill to a road where the car is ready for your journey back to Sapa.

You are now at the fringe of the rain forest by the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. Fansipan, the highest peak in Indochinavillage of Red Dao with its 3143 m, is located in this mountain range. You will start the trek today by ascending to Nam Toong minority. Here your lunch will be prepared in a local school.

After lunchtime, you descend to the valley where locates My Son village of Xa Pho minority, one of the smallest groups ethnic in Northern Vietnam. From there you take a short walk to Thanh Phu village of Tay minority. Here you spend the night in traditional house of the Tay. You can take a walk to explore local daily life while your dinner will be served with Vietnamese dishes.
Approx: Grade 3 of 5/ 6  hours walking/ 1 hour lunch

Day 5: Thanh Phu - Nam Cum - Sin Chai (B,L,D)

Today’s trek will be relatively short and soft. Once leaving Thanh Phu, you follow the trekking route built in the bottom of the valley, which offers the best view to the surrounding mountains. You stop at a nice spot for lunch.

After lunchtime, you continue the walk toward Sin Chai village of Red Dao minority where the night will be spent in bamboo huts. You will be attracted by the wonderful hospitable atmosphere of the Red Dao.

Day 6: Sin Chai - Thanh Phu - Ban Ho - Sapa (B,L)

Once having left Sin Chai you will start heading towards Ban Ho. You will trek along the riverbank where you can enjoy a refreshing swim nearby a waterfall. At Ban Ho, your lunch will be prepared and served in a friendly local Tay family's house.

On the last hours you can enjoy the valley view one final time while trekking upward Supan. Here your car will take you on journey back to Sapa. On the way you still have many opportunities to enjoy magnificent views of valleys and mountain.

You will stop by a waterfall and a hydroelectric station for a while before you trek on a dirt trail through rice paddy terraces. You also will enjoy spectacular scenery while walking along a narrow river. You eventually arrive in Y Linh Ho village of Black Hmong minority, where you can take a rest while you are served lunch nearby the river.
After lunch, you head Muong Hoa valley. You will pass through Lao Chai village of Black Hmong minority and then Tavan village of Giay minority by following a very popular trekking route.  You will spend the night in local house of Giay minority. Day 8: Ban Ho - Su Pan - Sapa (B,L)

Today will be very relaxing; take an easy walk around the village, visit a local school, go swimming or just sit in the balcony to read book and enjoy the views. You will have lunch before heading uphill toward Su Pan.
After lunch, you trek all the way uphill. On the way you can enjoy the valley views while taking a rest. You will pass by a tinny village of Red Dao minority where you may find a small souvenir for your trip. Once you get to Su Pan, you start your journey back to Sapa by car.
